Biography
Allyson C. Johnson is a film and television editor. She was born in Great Neck, New York.
She studied music at SUNY Purchase before moving into film editing. She served as apprentice to editor Barry Alexander Brown on Spike Lee’s He Got Game (1998) and Summer of Sam (1999). Her first feature credit was as editor of Mira Nair’s Monsoon Wedding (2001).
Johnson has edited Nair’s subsequent films Vanity Fair (2004), Amelia (2009) and New York, I Love You (2008). Her television credits include episodes of The Wire (2002), The Get Down (2016–2017), The Mosquito Coast (2021) and And Just Like That... (2023–2025). She has received Emmy nominations for her work.
