Biography
Álvaro Gutiérrez is a Spanish cinematographer. Born in Seville in 1973, he studied Communication Arts at William Paterson University in New Jersey between 1995 and 1999. After working for NBC in New York, he returned to Spain in 2000 and began assisting cameraman Néstor Calvo before taking on cinematography roles in short films and music videos.
His first feature as director of photography was Bajo las estrellas (2007), for which he received a Goya nomination. Gutiérrez has since worked on features including Mist & the Maiden (2017) and series such as Extraordinary (2023), Who Is Erin Carter? (2023), Around the World in 80 Days (2021) and One Day (2024).
