Biography
Andrée Davanture was a French film editor. Born on 11 October 1933 in Poggio-di-Nazza, Corsica, she began working in editing in the early 1950s and became a chief editor by the mid-1960s. She died in Paris on 1 July 2014.
From 1974 she focused increasingly on films by African directors. She edited six films for Souleymane Cissé, including Yeelen (1987), and worked on titles such as The Man Who Sleeps (1974) and Lettre paysanne (1975). In 1980 she founded the Paris-based company Atria to support African cinema. Over a sixty-year career she contributed to more than 140 films.
