Biography
Andrew Bovell is an Australian writer for theatre, film and television. He was born on 23 November 1962 in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, and studied at the University of Western Australia before completing a Diploma in Dramatic Arts at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne.
Bovell began his career as a playwright. His play Speaking in Tongues (1996) was adapted by him into the screenplay for the film Lantana (2001). His other screen credits include co-writing Strictly Ballroom (1992) and Head On (1998), and the screenplays for Edge of Darkness (2010) and A Most Wanted Man (2014). He has received multiple AWGIE awards and Australian Film Institute awards.
