Biography
Andrey Moskvin (also credited as Andrei Moskvin) was a Soviet cinematographer. Born on 14 February 1901 in Tsarskoye Selo, he was a co-founder in 1922 of the FEKS collective with Grigori Kozintsev, Leonid Trauberg and Sergei Yutkevich. He worked extensively with Kozintsev and Trauberg throughout his career.
Moskvin is best known for his collaboration with Sergei Eisenstein on Ivan the Terrible, Part I (1944) and Ivan the Terrible, Part II: The Boyars' Plot (1958), for which he shot the interiors and the colour sequences in Part II. Other notable credits include the Maxim trilogy (The Youth of Maxim, 1935; The Return of Maxim, 1937; The Vyborg Side, 1938), Pirogov (1947) and The Lady with the Dog (1960). He died on 28 February 1961 in Leningrad.
