Biography
Angela Betzien is an Australian playwright and screenwriter. Born in Rockhampton, Queensland, in 1978, she graduated from Queensland University of Technology with a Master of Arts. Her first play, Dog Wins Lotto, was produced in 1997, and she has since written numerous works for theatre, including Hoods and The Dark Room.
Betzien has received several fellowships and awards for her stage work. She transitioned to screenwriting, contributing episodes to the series Total Control (2019–2021) and Secret City (2019). She wrote an episode of the Netflix limited series Apple Cider Vinegar (2025), for which she received an AWGIE Award nomination.
