Biography
Angelo Pizzo is an American screenwriter, producer and director. He grew up in Bloomington, Indiana, graduated from Indiana University in 1971 with a degree in political science, and studied film at the University of Southern California.
Pizzo began his career in television development at Warner Bros. and later became vice president of feature films at Time Life Films. He wrote and produced Hoosiers (1986) and Rudy (1993), both directed by his Indiana University friend David Anspaugh; the former was inducted into the National Film Registry. Subsequent credits include writing The Game of Their Lives (2005) and The Hill (2023), and directing My All American (2015). He has also contributed to Bleed for This (2016).
Pizzo was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013. He returned to Bloomington in 2004 after many years in California.
