Biography
Anita Reeves was an Irish stage and film actress. Born in Dublin in 1948, she trained at the Brendan Smith Academy of Acting and began her career in Dublin revues and pantomime before moving into theatre and film.
She appeared in several Irish films, including Angel (1982), Into the West (1992) as Mrs. Murphy, The Butcher Boy (1997) as Mrs. Coyle and Adam & Paul (2004). Her stage work included the original production of Brian Friel's Dancing at Lughnasa (1990), for which she received a Laurence Olivier Award nomination, and roles such as Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd at the Gate Theatre. She was married to Julian Erskine, executive producer of Riverdance.
Reeves died in Dublin in 2016.
