Biography
Ann Todd was an English actress and producer. She made her film debut in Keepers of Youth (1931) and appeared as Mary Gordon in Things to Come (1936).
Trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama, she gained prominence in the mid-1940s with roles in Perfect Strangers (1945) and The Seventh Veil (1945). She later worked in Hollywood, playing Gay Keane in Alfred Hitchcock's The Paradine Case (1947).
Todd appeared in three films directed by David Lean, to whom she was married from 1949 to 1957: The Passionate Friends (1949), Madeleine (1950) and The Sound Barrier (1952). In later years she produced and directed travel documentaries and wrote an autobiography, The Eighth Veil.
