Biography
Anna Thomas is a German-born American screenwriter and film producer. She studied film at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she made her thesis film The Haunting of M. (1979).
Thomas collaborated frequently with director Gregory Nava, whom she married in 1975. They co-wrote the screenplay for El Norte (1983), on which she also served as producer; the film received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. Her other screenwriting credits include My Family (1995) and Frida (2002).
She is also the author of the influential vegetarian cookbook The Vegetarian Epicure (1972) and its sequel. Thomas has served as head of the Screenwriting discipline at the American Film Institute.
