Biography

Anthony Fingleton is an Australian screenwriter and producer. A former competitive swimmer who won a silver medal at the 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games, he attended Harvard University on a swimming scholarship before remaining in the United States and entering the film industry.

Fingleton wrote the screenplay for the comedy Drop Dead Fred (1991), on which he also served as executive producer. He co-authored the autobiography Swimming Upstream, which he adapted into the screenplay for the 2003 biographical film of the same name, again acting as executive producer. He received a story credit and executive producer credit on the action film The Hurricane Heist (2018).

Fingleton has also written for the stage, including the play Over My Dead Body.
