Biography
Antonio Climati (14 November 1931 – 9 August 2015) was an Italian cinematographer, filmmaker and editor. He was the son of camera operator Arturo Climati and began working with the camera alongside his father and as an assistant to documentary filmmaker Paolo Gregorich. He later joined the team of Gualtiero Jacopetti.
Climati contributed cinematography to several mondo documentaries, including Mondo Cane (1962), Africa Addio (1966) and Goodbye Uncle Tom (1971). From the mid-1970s he directed his own films in a similar style, often in collaboration with Mario Morra, among them Savage Man Savage Beast (1975), Savana violenta (1976) and Dolce e selvaggio (1983). He also served as director of photography on Italian horror films such as The Green Inferno (1988) and Nightmare Beach (1989).
