Biography
Antonio Ferrandis Monrabal (28 February 1921 – 16 October 2000) was a Spanish actor. Born in Paterna, Valencia, he studied teaching but pursued theatre after the Spanish Civil War. His first professional stage role came in 1950 in Oedipus, co-starring with Francisco Rabal. He began appearing in films in the early 1950s.
Ferrandis worked with directors including Luis García Berlanga on Placido (1962), The Executioner (1963) and The National Shotgun (1978), and Luis Buñuel on Tristana (1970), in which he played the Buyer. He is also known for The Miracle of Marcelino (1955), My Dearest Senorita (1972), the television series Verano azul (1981) as Chanquete, and Begin the Beguine (1982). He received the Cultural Merit Award from the Generalitat Valenciana.
