Biography
Arthur Crabtree (29 October 1900 – 15 March 1975) was a British cinematographer and film director. He began his career as a cinematographer, working on comedies including several Will Hay films and Arthur Askey vehicles, as well as Gainsborough Pictures productions. He was cinematographer on The Man in Grey (1943).
Crabtree made his directorial debut with Madonna of the Seven Moons (1945) and continued directing for Gainsborough with films such as They Were Sisters (1945) and Caravan (1946). He also directed episodes of television series including The Adventures of Robin Hood (1956).
His later feature films included the science-fiction Fiend Without a Face (1958) and the horror Horrors of the Black Museum (1959).
