Biography
Arthur Hunnicutt was an American actor. Born in Gravelly, Arkansas, he attended Arkansas State Teachers College before pursuing theatre. He worked in stock companies and on Broadway, including a leading role in Tobacco Road, before moving to Hollywood in 1949.
Hunnicutt appeared in numerous films and television series, often portraying rural or frontier characters. He played Zeb Calloway in The Big Sky (1952), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Other credits include Broken Arrow (1950), The Tall T (1957), Cat Ballou (1965) and El Dorado (1966), as well as guest roles in series such as The Andy Griffith Show, Bonanza and The Twilight Zone. He died in 1979.
