Biography
Arthur Wong Ngok-Tai (also credited as Arthur Wong Ngok Tai and Huang Yueh-Tai) is a Hong Kong cinematographer, director, producer and actor. Born in Hong Kong in 1956, he is the son of cinematographer Wong Chit and began working in film in the mid-1970s.
He served as cinematographer on The 36th Chamber of Shaolin (1978) and Once Upon a Time in China (1991), among many other films including Armour of God (1986), Operation Condor (1991), Twin Dragons (1992) and Bodyguards and Assassins (2009). Wong has won the Hong Kong Film Award for Best Cinematography on multiple occasions, including for He Lives by Night (1982), The Soong Sisters (1997), Purple Storm (1999), The Warlords (2007) and Painted Skin (2008). He is noted for innovative multi-camera techniques and was among the first in Asia to work in high definition.
