Biography
Azizi Johari is an American model and actress. She was born on 24 August 1948 in New York City. She grew up in several countries owing to her father's military service before the family settled in Seattle, where she attended high school and college.
Johari joined the Black Arts West theatre group and appeared in stage productions including A Raisin in the Sun. She toured with Sammy Davis Jr. and was Playboy magazine's Playmate of the Month for June 1975, the fourth African-American woman to hold the title. Her stage name, meaning "precious jewel" in Swahili, was suggested by Herbie Hancock.
Her film credits include an uncredited role in McQ (1974), Rachel in The Killing of a Chinese Bookie (1976), and appearances in Dreamer (1979), Rocky II (1979, uncredited), Seed of Innocence (1980) and Body and Soul (1981). She also appeared in an episode of the television series The Six Million Dollar Man (1975).
