Biography
B.S. Pully, born Murray Lerman, was an American actor and nightclub comedian. He originated the role of Big Jule in the Broadway production of Guys and Dolls, which opened in 1950, and appeared in more than 1,000 performances. He repeated the role in the 1955 film version.
Pully began his career on the Borscht Belt. He appeared in supporting film roles during the mid-1940s, including as a Christmas tree vendor in A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (1945) and Joe the Bartender in Nob Hill (1945). Later credits include The Bellboy (1960) and guest appearances in television series such as Get Smart (1965) and Car 54, Where Are You?.
He died of a heart attack in Philadelphia on 6 January 1972.
