Biography
Barbara Machin is a British screenwriter and showrunner. She has written multiple episodes of the long-running BBC medical drama Casualty (1986), including a feature-length special for which she won a BAFTA award.
She created, wrote and served as showrunner on the BBC crime series Waking the Dead (2000–2011), which ran for ten years and won an International Emmy for Best Drama Series in 2007. Other credits include the television films Kiss of Death (2008) and Carla (2003), and the 2019 adaptation The Small Hand (Ghost Story). She specialises in medical and crime drama and has contributed over 200 hours of transmitted television.
