Biography
Barbara Rush (4 January 1927 – 31 March 2024) was an American actress. She was born in Denver, Colorado, and graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1948 before training at the Pasadena Playhouse. She made her screen debut in the 1950 film The Goldbergs and received the Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer – Female in 1954 for her role in It Came from Outer Space (1953).
Rush appeared in numerous films of the 1950s and 1960s, including When Worlds Collide (1951), Bigger Than Life (1956) as Lou Avery, The Young Lions (1958), The Young Philadelphians (1959), Robin and the 7 Hoods (1964) and Hombre (1967). She later worked extensively in television, with regular roles in Peyton Place and 7th Heaven, and guest appearances in series such as Knight Rider, Batman, Murder, She Wrote and Magnum, P.I..
Rush also maintained a stage career and received the Sarah Siddons Award in 1970 for her performance in Forty Carats.
