Biography
Barbara Valentin (born Ursula Ledersteger; also credited as Barbara Valentine) was an Austrian actress. She was born in Vienna on 15 December 1940 and died in Munich on 22 February 2002.
She began her screen career in the late 1950s in German entertainment films. Valentin became known for her work with director Rainer Werner Fassbinder, appearing in World on a Wire (1973), Ali: Fear Eats the Soul (1974) as Barbara, Martha (1974), Effi Briest (1974), Fox and His Friends (1975), Berlin Alexanderplatz (1980) and Lili Marleen (1981). Other credits include Horrors of Spider Island (1960) and Go Trabi Go (1991).
She was the daughter of film architect Hans Ledersteger and actress Irmgard Alberti, and was married to director Helmut Dietl.
