Biography
Benjamin Bocquelet (also credited as Ben Bocquelet) is a French-British animator, writer, director and producer. He is the creator of the Cartoon Network animated series The Amazing World of Gumball (2011–2019), on which he also served as writer, executive producer, showrunner and art director.
Bocquelet trained in animation and began his career working on commercials at Studio AKA in London. He joined Cartoon Network Development Studio Europe in 2007, where he developed the concept for Gumball after an initial pitch about rejected cartoon characters was revised into a family sitcom format. The series premiered in 2011. He has also created the revival series The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball (2025–present).
