Biography
Ben Esler is an Australian actor and writer. He was born and raised in Melbourne and graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Masters Degree in Applied Ethics and a diploma in Professional Ethics.
Esler began his career in Australian television, appearing in Blue Heelers (2004–2005) and the television film Curtin (2007). He played Charles 'Chuck' Tatum in the HBO miniseries The Pacific (2010) and was a series regular as Sean McGinnes in the first three seasons of the AMC series Hell on Wheels (2011–2013).
His later credits include Charlie Quinn in The Magicians (2016), Gunner Ken Deacon in Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan (2019), Jed in Endings, Beginnings (2020), Father Dirksen in A Small Light (2023) and a role in Winner (2024). He has also written for screen projects including Wake Up Dead.
