Biography
Ben Roberts was an American screenwriter and producer. Born Benjamin Eisenberg Roberts on 23 March 1916 in New York City, he attended New York University and ran a public-relations firm while contributing comedy material to Broadway musicals. In 1941 he began a long collaboration with writer Ivan Goff on the stage thriller Portrait in Black.
Roberts settled in Hollywood in 1949. With Goff he wrote the screenplays for White Heat (1949), Captain Horatio Hornblower R.N. (1951), Man of a Thousand Faces (1957) and Midnight Lace (1960). The pair created the television series Mannix and Charlie's Angels, and Roberts produced episodes of both. He died in Los Angeles on 12 May 1984.
