Biography
Ben Shattuck is an American writer. He wrote the screenplay for the 2025 film The History of Sound, adapting two of his own short stories.
His short-story collection The History of Sound was published in 2024. He is also the author of the 2022 memoir Six Walks: In the Footsteps of Henry David Thoreau. Shattuck graduated from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and has received the PEN/Robert J. Dau Short Story Prize for Emerging Writers and a Pushcart Prize.
He co-owns and runs the oldest general store in America, established in 1793, on the Massachusetts coast.
