Biography
Bengal is a Japanese actor, also credited as Bengaru and under his birth name Haruo Yanagihara. He was born in Tokyo on 17 August 1951 and trained at the Tokyo University of the Arts stage school after seeing an advertisement while at university. He is a founding member of the theatre company Tokyo Denchi and has worked extensively in stage, television and film since the 1970s.
His screen credits include the role of Sonoda in Godzilla 2000: Millennium (1999), Muto in Boiling Point (1990), Honami's father in Gamera 2: Advent of Legion (1996), Shizuo Todoroki in Golden Slumber (2010) and Sueo Saito in 0.5 mm (2014). He has appeared in more than one hundred television and film productions.
