Biography
Benny Hill (born Alfred Hawthorne Hill) was an English comedian and actor. He was born on 21 January 1924 in Southampton, Hampshire, and died in 1992.
Hill began his career in variety theatre after wartime service and made his television debut in the late 1940s. He is best known for The Benny Hill Show (1955–1989), a long-running comedy variety series. His film roles include Fire Chief Perkins in Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines (1965), the Toymaker in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968), Professor Simon Peach in The Italian Job (1969), and appearances in other comedies.
