Biography
Berta Drews (also credited as Berta Emilie Helene Drews) was a German actress. She was born on 19 November 1901 in Berlin and died on 10 April 1987 in Berlin. She trained at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin under Max Reinhardt and made her stage debut in 1925. She appeared in more than sixty films between 1933 and 1983.
Drews is known for her role as Anna Koljaiczek in The Tin Drum (1979). Other film credits include Frau Schrott in It Happened in Broad Daylight (1958) and Mutter Völker in Our Flags Lead Us Forward (1933). She was married to actor Heinrich George and was the mother of actor Götz George. A respected stage actress, she received Germany's Cross of Merit, First Class in 1981.
