Biography
Bettina Gilois (1961–2020) was a German-American screenwriter and author. She graduated from Barnard College of Columbia University with a degree in art history in 1985 and began her writing career after working at Andy Warhol's Factory, initially with Joel Silver Productions.
Her screen credits include the story and screenplay for the Disney film Glory Road (2006), the screenplay for McFarland, USA (2015), and the screenplay for the HBO television film Bessie (2015). She also wrote The Lost Wife of Robert Durst (2017) and contributed to A Million Miles Away (2023) and Mahalia (2021). Gilois received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Television Movie for Bessie and NAACP Image Award nominations for her work on Bessie and McFarland, USA.
