Biography
Betty Jaynes, born Betty Jayne Schultz, was an American operatic singer and actress. She made her concert debut at the age of 15 and appeared with the Chicago City Opera Company in La bohème the same year. She signed a contract with MGM and began working in Hollywood in 1937 after attending the Starrett School for Girls in Chicago.
Jaynes appeared as Molly Moran in the 1939 musical Babes in Arms. She had supporting roles in other MGM films including Sweethearts (1938), Swing Shift Maisie (1943) and Meet the People (1944), and made a television appearance in an episode of I Love Lucy in 1952. She is also seen in archive footage in That's Entertainment! III (1994).
She was married to actor and singer Douglas McPhail from 1938 to 1941, and later to Bill Roberts from 1943.
