Biography
Bibi Lindström (30 June 1904 – 4 November 1984) was a Swedish production designer and art director. She began working in film in 1932 and contributed to more than 150 productions over a 40-year career, initially at Europafilm and later at Sandrew-ateljén.
She designed sets for several Ingmar Bergman films, including Sawdust and Tinsel (1953), Brink of Life (1958) and Persona (1966). Other notable credits include Miss Julie (1951) for Alf Sjöberg and a number of Arne Mattsson’s Hillman thrillers. Lindström also worked in theatre and on exhibitions, and directed the short documentary En Stockholmssilhuett (1943). She is regarded as a pioneer of the film architect or scenographer role in Swedish cinema.
