Biography
Bill Cardille (1928–2016), also known as Chilly Billy, was an American broadcast personality and actor from the Pittsburgh area. He began his television career in the early 1950s and became a fixture on WIIC (later WPXI) in Pittsburgh, hosting programmes including the long-running late-night horror show Chiller Theater from 1963 to 1984.
Cardille is best known to wider audiences for his appearance as a field reporter in George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead (1968), playing a fictionalised version of himself; he reprised a similar role in the 1990 remake. He also worked in radio, hosted the local Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon for many years, and was the father of actress Lori Cardille.
