Biography
Bill Purple is an American television and film director, also credited as William Purple. He began his career as an assistant director on feature films such as The Patriot (2000), Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005) and Tropic Thunder (2008). He later worked as a first assistant director at Shondaland on Off the Map, where he directed second-unit sequences.
Purple directed his first network episode on Private Practice. He went on to direct three episodes of New Girl (2014–2015), as well as episodes of Fresh Off the Boat, Speechless (14 episodes) and other series. His feature directorial debut was The Book of Love (2016), which he also wrote and executive produced. He has directed multiple episodes of Cruel Summer and served as directing producer on Fire Country.
