Biography
Bin Akao (1899–1990) was a Japanese far-right politician and ultranationalist who appeared uncredited as himself in Chris Marker's 1983 essay film Sans Soleil.
Born in Nagoya, Akao served as a member of the House of Representatives during the Second World War and later founded the Greater Japan Patriotic Party. He was known for his public speeches delivered from sound trucks in central Tokyo. In Sans Soleil, footage shows him addressing passers-by at Sukiyabashi Crossing.
