Biography
Birgitta Valberg was a Swedish actress. She was born on 16 December 1916 in Stockholm and died on 29 March 2014. She trained at the Royal Dramatic Training Academy (Dramatens elevskola) and was a member of the Royal Dramatic Theatre company from the 1940s until 1996.
Valberg appeared in several Ingmar Bergman films, including Smiles of a Summer Night (1955), The Virgin Spring (1960) as Märeta, Shame (1968) as Mrs Jacobi, and Man on the Roof (1976) as Widow Nyman. She also appeared in Port of Call (1948). In 1977 she won the Guldbagge Award for Best Actress for her role in Summer Paradise.
