Biography
Brían F. O'Byrne is an Irish actor. He was born on 16 May 1967 in Mullagh, County Cavan, and trained at the Samuel Beckett Centre at Trinity College Dublin. He moved to New York in 1990 and first gained attention for stage performances in Martin McDonagh plays including The Beauty Queen of Leenane (1996) and The Lonesome West (1997).
O'Byrne is known for dramatic roles on stage and screen. He won a Tony Award for Frozen (2004) and received further Tony nominations for Doubt (2004) and The Coast of Utopia (2007). Film credits include Father Horvak in Million Dollar Baby (2004), Bobby Lasorda in Before the Devil Knows You're Dead (2007), and O'Malley in Conclave (2024). On television he appeared in Mildred Pierce (2011), for which he received an Emmy nomination, and Little Boy Blue (2017), for which he won a BAFTA TV Award.
