Biography
Brian Kavanagh is an Australian film editor, director, producer and writer. Born in Melbourne in 1935, he began his career editing documentaries and television series before moving into feature films.
He edited The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith (1978) and Long Weekend (1978), and collaborated with director Fred Schepisi on several projects. Other editing credits include The Devil's Playground (1976), The Odd Angry Shot (1979) and Frog Dreaming (1986).
Kavanagh received the Australian Film Institute Award for Best Achievement in Editing for Frog Dreaming in 1986 and was awarded lifetime membership of Australian Screen Editors in 1997. He has also directed and produced features such as A City's Child (1971) and Double Deal (1983), and has written crime novels.
