Biography
Brian Wayne Peterson is an American screenwriter and television producer. He wrote the screenplay for the 1999 film But I'm a Cheerleader and joined the writing staff of Smallville in 2002. He contributed numerous episodes as writer and story editor, rose through the producing ranks to executive producer and co-showrunner with Kelly Souders for the final three seasons, and directed the episode "Charade".
Peterson earned an MFA in writing for screen and television from the USC School of Cinematic Arts in 1997, where he met his frequent collaborator Kelly Souders. In 1999, Variety named him one of its 10 Screenwriters to Watch. He has also written episodes for Political Animals (2012) and Under the Dome (2014), and served as showrunner on The Hot Zone (2019).
