Biography
Bruce Lee (born Lee Jun-fan) was a Hong Kong-American actor and martial artist. He was born on 27 November 1940 in San Francisco and died on 20 July 1973 in Hong Kong. Raised in Hong Kong, he appeared in more than twenty films as a child before training in Wing Chun kung fu under Yip Man.
Lee moved to the United States in 1959. He studied philosophy at the University of Washington and opened martial arts schools in Seattle, Oakland and Los Angeles, where he developed his own system, Jeet Kune Do. He gained wider attention playing Kato in the television series The Green Hornet (1966–67).
Returning to Hong Kong, he starred in and helped shape a series of martial arts films, including The Big Boss (1971), Fist of Fury (1972) and The Way of the Dragon (1972). His final completed film was Enter the Dragon (1973), in which he also received a producer credit.
