Biography
Burt Kennedy (born Burton Raphael Kennedy, 3 September 1922 – 15 February 2001) was an American screenwriter and director. He was born in Muskegon, Michigan, and is known primarily for his work on Western films.
Kennedy wrote the screenplays for Ride Lonesome (1959), The Tall T (1957), Seven Men from Now (1956) and Comanche Station (1960). He began his screenwriting career with Batjac Productions and later directed films including The Canadians (1961), Return of the Seven (1966), The War Wagon (1967), Support Your Local Sheriff! (1969), The Train Robbers (1973) and Hannie Caulder (1971).
He also directed episodes of television series such as Magnum, P.I. (1980) and wrote the screenplay for White Hunter, Black Heart (1990).
