Biography
C.M. Pennington-Richards (1911–2005) was a British cinematographer and film director. He began his career producing religious films and entered the mainstream industry as a cinematographer with Border Line (1938).
During the Second World War he worked with the Crown Film Unit and was cinematographer on Humphrey Jennings's Fires Were Started (1943). Post-war credits as cinematographer included Theirs Is the Glory (1946), The Wooden Horse (1950) and Scrooge (1951).
He made his directorial debut with The Oracle (1953) and directed further features including Double Bunk (1961), Ladies Who Do (1963) and Sky Pirates (1977). He also directed episodes of early British television series.
