Biography
Camille Yarbrough is an American actress, musician, poet and activist. Born in Chicago, Illinois, she began her career as a dancer with the Katherine Dunham Dance Company in the 1950s and later performed on Broadway in productions including Kwamina (1961).
Yarbrough appeared as Dina Greene in the film Shaft (1971). She also had roles in television series such as Search for Tomorrow. She is known for her 1975 album The Iron Pot Cooker and the song "Take Yo' Praise", later sampled by Fatboy Slim in "Praise You" (1998). Her work has emphasised African American cultural heritage through performance, writing and education.
