Biography
Candela Peña is a Spanish actress. Born María del Pilar Peña Sánchez on 14 July 1973 in Gavà, Barcelona, she began dance training at the age of four and later studied theatre in Seville and Madrid, including at the school of Juan Carlos Corazza.
She made her film debut in Días contados (1994). Peña is known for her role as Nina in Pedro Almodóvar’s All About My Mother (1999). She has won three Goya Awards: Best Supporting Actress for Take My Eyes (2003) and A Gun in Each Hand (2012), and Best Actress for Princesses (2005). Encouraged by Almodóvar, she published the novel Pérez Príncipe, María Dolores in 2001.
