Biography
Capucine, born Germaine Hélène Irène Lefebvre, was a French model and actress. She was born on 6 January 1928 in Saint-Raphaël, Var, France, and died on 17 March 1990 in Lausanne, Switzerland. She began her career as a fashion model in the 1940s, working for houses including Givenchy and Dior, before transitioning to acting.
Her film debut came in 1949. She gained international attention after being spotted by producer Charles K. Feldman in New York and signing with Columbia Pictures. Capucine appeared in English-language films such as North to Alaska (1960), The Pink Panther (1963) as Simone Clouseau, and What's New Pussycat? (1965). She played Trifena in Federico Fellini's Satyricon (1969).
She continued working in film and television through the 1970s and 1980s, including roles in Red Sun (1971) and episodes of Murder, She Wrote (1984). Capucine was briefly married to actor Pierre Trabaud in 1950.
