Biography
Carina Lau is a Hong Kong actress and singer. She began her career in television with TVB after moving to Hong Kong from mainland China, making her screen debut in the mid-1980s.
She appeared as Carina in Project A Part II (1987) and as Li Lili in Center Stage (1991). Lau has collaborated frequently with director Wong Kar-wai, including in Days of Being Wild (1990) and 2046 (2004). She is known for portraying Empress Wu Zetian in Tsui Hark's Detective Dee films, beginning with Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame (2010).
Lau has received Best Actress awards at the Hong Kong Film Awards and the Golden Rooster Awards. She is married to actor Tony Leung Chiu-wai.
