Biography
Carl Goetz (born Karl Perl) was an Austrian stage and film actor. He trained as a violinist before beginning a stage career with a debut in 1892 at the Stadttheater in St. Pölten. He later performed in Vienna, Berlin and Munich.
Goetz entered films in 1913 and appeared in around seventy productions through the silent and early sound eras, often in character roles as older or unsightly men. He played Voltaire in Die Mühle von Sanssouci (1926) and is noted for his performance as Schigolch in Georg Wilhelm Pabst's Pandora's Box (1929).
