Biography
Carl Hiaasen is an American journalist and novelist. Born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, he began his career as a reporter at the Miami Herald in 1976, later writing an opinion column for the paper from 1985 until his retirement in 2021.
Hiaasen has written numerous satirical crime novels set in Florida, several of which have been adapted for film and television. These include the 1996 film Striptease, the 2006 film Hoot, the 2024 series Bad Monkey, and the 2026 ABC series R.J. Decker, on which he serves as an executive producer.
