Biography
Carl Pingitore (1924–2008) was an American film and television editor and producer. Born in New York City, he began his career editing for early television series including Maverick, 77 Sunset Strip, Cheyenne and Adventures in Paradise. He later established a film editing service in New York before moving to Hollywood.
Pingitore edited several films directed by or starring Clint Eastwood in the early 1970s, including The Beguiled (1971), Play Misty for Me (1971) and Dirty Harry (1971), on which he also served as associate producer. Other feature credits include Across 110th Street (1972) and Prime Cut (1972). He worked extensively in television as an editor and later as a producer on series such as Police Story and Fantasy Island, and his final editing credit was the 1986 television film Of Pure Blood.
