Biography
Carl Schenstrøm, also credited as Karl Georg Harald Schenstrøm, was a Danish actor born on 13 November 1881 in Copenhagen, where he died on 10 April 1942. He trained as a bookbinder before making his stage debut in 1903 at Nørrebros Teater and his film debut around 1910.
He is best known as one half of the comedy duo Fyrtårnet og Bivognen (Fy og Bi), playing the tall, thin Fyrtårnet opposite Harald Madsen as Bivognen. The pair appeared together in dozens of films from 1921 to 1940, many directed by Lau Lauritzen, and achieved international success. Schenstrøm also had a supporting role as a wedding musician in F. W. Murnau's The Last Laugh (1924) and directed one film, Midt i byens hjerte (1938).
