Biography
Carlos Douglas (1935–2004) was a Spanish-born actor who worked primarily in British television from the 1950s onwards. He appeared in numerous series and plays, frequently cast in supporting roles as Spanish or Mediterranean characters.
He is best known for his recurring role as the waiter Carlos Mendes in the ITV sitcom Duty Free (1984–1986), appearing in 21 episodes across three series and a Christmas special. Other credits include Tales of the Unexpected (1979) as a sous-chef, Don't Drink the Water (1975) as a policeman, Minder (1980), Big Deal (1984), ChuckleVision (1995) and Too Much Sun (2000). He also featured in earlier series such as Dixon of Dock Green and Vanity Fair (1967).
